Let me just start off by saying that I am a big Dennis Max fan. It started with Maxaluna (which I was so sad to see close) and Cafe Maxx, and continued with both Max's Grill and Max's Harvest. What I like about all these places is that the food is consistently good. I like the menu choices and, even at Max's Harvest where the menu changes depending on the season, I am never disappointed by what is being offered and how it is prepared. It is the first place I was ever willing to try a brussel sprout and since that experience they have become a staple both ordering out, and making at home. Therefore, I should not be surprised that Mr.

In an effort to support deployed USA military members during the holiday season, the City of Delray Beach, "You Are Not Alone" and "One Soldier at a Time" have come together to support the 8th Annual Project Holiday. This important Project collects and ships desperately needed items to our military who will not be able to come home for the holidays. The community is encouraged to experience the true spirit of the season by donating to this worthy cause. Donated items will be accepted at various locations around the City and at several locations in Boca Raton now thru December 6, 2013. Items will be packed for shipping on December 8th, 2013. Examples of needed items are listed below, as well as drop off locations.

If you live in Boca Raton, especially West Boca, you can not help but be effected by the senseless death of two of our neighbors. I did not know Ian and Gemma Burlakoff, nor their 4 children personally, but I didn't have to to feel a true sadness for this family. The rumors about what may or may not have caused Ian to shoot Gemma really don't matter. Or, why Ian chose to die the way he did, only he will ever know the answer to that. But again, none of that really matters. What matters is that two parents are dead and have left behind 4 young children. Today I would like to send out my most deepest sympathies to the Burlakoff children and to tell them how very, very sorry I am for their loss.

When I give my sons a new toy they are very reluctant to share it. It is only after a few times of playing with it that they, begrudgingly, let the other one "see it". As I write this I can tell you that is how I feel about Butcher Block Grill. The experience I had there was so great that I am only, begrudgingly, sharing this place with my readers. But, in order to practice what I preach, I must let you "see it".

If you are a fan of this blog then you know some of my biggest gripes have been with the lack of customer service with both retailers and restaurants in our area. But today I am here not to punish but rather to praise. I had an experience last week that I just had to share with my readers.

My family loves to play miniature golf. So when I told them I wanted to try a new place, but it would take us about 40 minutes to get there, they didn't even flinch. Ahhh, the power of the putter. Off we went to Miramar, to Monster Mini Golf. I won't keep you in suspense, it was worth the trip.

Delray Beach is definitely not short on restaurant choices. But, moderately priced ones with really good food and drinks, those are a bit harder to come by. Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant delivers in both categories and has become a fast favorite of my husband's who likes to fancy himself a bit of a restaurant aficionado and honestly, he's become pretty good at picking winners.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio
I am a slave to book reviews, especially reviews of children's books. And, while I love for my kids to read the books I grew up on, there are so many things that go on today that the books that were popular during my childhood just don't address. That's why I love the reviews. They help me to find the books that are both well written, with the messages I want to send. So today I share with you a book that both my 10 year old and I loved, Wonder, by R.J. Palacio (a pen name for Raquel Jaramillo).

For those of you who have not been to Legoland in Winter Haven, Florida, if you have kids between the ages of 2 and 11 I strongly urge you to put it on your "To Do" list. Our family loves Legoland and we have been there twice, which is the exact number of times I have taken my kids to Magic Kingdom. While it would be silly to try and compare the grandeur of Disney World, to the more humble grounds of Legoland, let me tell you why this has become more of a family favorite.

There is nothing not to like about the "funkadelic" Mellow Mushroom in Delray Beach. From the decor to the food it is a great place to dine with family or friends.
First let's start with the menu: Best known for the amazing pizza, which also includes gluten free choices; they also have salads, calzones, hoagies (hot and cold), appetizers, and a full bar. The kid's menu includes personal pizzas, mac & cheese, cheesy meatball stacks and pretzel dippers.
