Where's the Love?

I wrestled with myself whether I wanted to do a review of this place because I had very mixed emotions about my experience. However, I have decided to go ahead simply because the bottom line is, the food was really good and for many, that's all they need from a dinner out.

Last November I highlighted Burt & Max's, in the Delray Marketplace, as one of my new go-to places with my family. I wrote that the few times I had already been there the food had been consistently good and the biggest benefit, eating outdoors while my kids played at the adjacent lawn of the amphitheatre, was by far its biggest selling point. Unfortunately, based upon my last three visits in the last three months, I feel I need to recant my original positive review.

Happy Mother's Day to all those special Moms and Grandmothers who make this day a day truly worth celebrating.  I hope you will all try to take a part of this day and make it something just for you...you deserve it! Where's the Love? Today it's with you, Mom.

I am not a vegan, vegetarian or someone who needs to follow a gluten free diet. But, that doesn't stop me from making the Farmer's Table one of my newest and most favorite places to have lunch! This restaurant, that clearly caters to the aforementioned eaters, has a really eclectic menu that seems to offer a little bit of everything including salads, sandwiches, soups, flatbreads and various "house specialties". The difference with this "lunch-staples" menu is that all items served are part of the restaurant's farm-to-table, clean food eating philosophy. Everything is prepared in-house and no cream, butter, refined sugars or flours are used.

As soon as this place opened in Addison Place my husband and I were itching to try it. We are very big fans of Casa D'Angelo Ristorante in Ft. Lauderdale so we had very high hopes for this place, and we were not disappointed.

Don't let the name fool you. While they definitely had a large selection of wines, and a nice assortment of pizzas, in both traditional and white, the menu was not heavy on the tapas plates. There are, however, quite a large selection of entree sized plates. Ironically, my husband and I, who both love to order tapas, wound up splitting an entree pasta and both ordered entrees for diner.

Let me just start off by saying that I am a big Dennis Max fan. It started with Maxaluna (which I was so sad to see close) and Cafe Maxx, and continued with both Max's Grill and Max's Harvest. What I like about all these places is that the food is consistently good. I like the menu choices and, even at Max's Harvest where the menu changes depending on the season, I am never disappointed by what is being offered and how it is prepared. It is the first place I was ever willing to try a brussel sprout and since that experience they have become a staple both ordering out, and making at home. Therefore, I should not be surprised that Mr.

In an effort to support deployed USA military members during the holiday season, the City of Delray Beach, "You Are Not Alone" and "One Soldier at a Time" have come together to support the 8th Annual Project Holiday. This important Project collects and ships desperately needed items to our military who will not be able to come home for the holidays. The community is encouraged to experience the true spirit of the season by donating to this worthy cause. Donated items will be accepted at various locations around the City and at several locations in Boca Raton now thru December 6, 2013. Items will be packed for shipping on December 8th, 2013. Examples of needed items are listed below, as well as drop off locations.

If you live in Boca Raton, especially West Boca, you can not help but be effected by the senseless death of two of our neighbors. I did not know Ian and Gemma Burlakoff, nor their 4 children personally, but I didn't have to to feel a true sadness for this family. The rumors about what may or may not have caused Ian to shoot Gemma really don't matter. Or, why Ian chose to die the way he did, only he will ever know the answer to that. But again, none of that really matters. What matters is that two parents are dead and have left behind 4 young children. Today I would like to send out my most deepest sympathies to the Burlakoff children and to tell them how very, very sorry I am for their loss.

When I give my sons a new toy they are very reluctant to share it. It is only after a few times of playing with it that they, begrudgingly, let the other one "see it". As I write this I can tell you that is how I feel about Butcher Block Grill. The experience I had there was so great that I am only, begrudgingly, sharing this place with my readers. But, in order to practice what I preach, I must let you "see it".

If you are a fan of this blog then you know some of my biggest gripes have been with the lack of customer service with both retailers and restaurants in our area. But today I am here not to punish but rather to praise. I had an experience last week that I just had to share with my readers.
